Description
ALLMAX QuickMass
1,010 calories and 64 grams of protein in a four-scoop serving, at a 3:1 carb to protein ratio. Informed Choice certified, with only 12g of total sugar.
This is a genuine high-calorie gainer, and the most useful thing about it is that you do not have to take it that way.
You can take one scoop, not four
The 1,010-calorie figure gets the headlines, but one scoop is 250 calories — and every scoop in between is a valid serving.
| 1 scoop | ~250 cal, ~16g protein | A modest top-up |
| 2 scoops | ~505 cal, ~32g protein | Comparable to a standard gainer serving |
| 4 scoops | 1,010 cal, 64g protein | Full serving |
This matters practically. A 1,010-calorie shake is genuinely hard to drink, sits heavily, and is easy to overshoot with — many people buy a big gainer, find one serving uncomfortable, and abandon it.
Start at two scoops. Add a surplus you can actually sustain rather than one that makes you feel unwell, and scale up only if you genuinely need to. The tub gives you between 10 and 42 servings depending on how you use it.
The carbohydrate blend is genuinely more sophisticated than most
Where most gainers rely almost entirely on maltodextrin, QuickMass uses several sources with different digestion rates:
- Maltodextrin — fast, and still the primary component
- Cyclo-D (highly branched cyclic dextrin) — the interesting one. Its branched structure gives it very low osmolality, so it empties from the stomach quickly without the heaviness of a large carbohydrate load. That is the same principle explained on our Super Carb page
- Waxy maize starch — slower release
- Sweet potato powder, quinoa flour, oat fibre — whole food carbohydrate with fibre
The cyclic dextrin is what makes a 1,010-calorie shake drinkable at all. A carbohydrate load that size in pure maltodextrin would sit far more heavily.
Only 12g of total sugar across 171g of carbohydrate — genuinely low, and the strongest of the product's "clean" claims.
64g of protein, and no non-protein aminos
The protein comes from whey concentrate, whey isolate and milk protein isolate — fast through to slow, so amino availability is extended rather than spiking and dropping.
ALLMAX specify 100% whole protein sources with zero non-protein amino acids, which is their way of saying no amino spiking. That is the practice of adding cheap free-form aminos to inflate nitrogen-based protein tests without supplying usable complete protein — explained fully on our R1 Whey Blend page.
At 64g in a serving that is a meaningful claim, because it would be an easy place to cheat.
Informed Choice certification
QuickMass is tested for WADA-banned substances by Informed Choice, and ALLMAX note that products are purchased randomly from retailers for testing rather than submitted by the manufacturer.
That distinction matters. Testing a sample a company chooses to send is weaker than testing a tub bought off a shelf, and tested lots are publicly listed. For a mass gainer — a category where certification is rare — that is a genuine differentiator.
Specs (4 scoops, 265g)
| Calories | 1,010 |
| Protein | 64g |
| Carbohydrate | 171g (3:1 to protein) |
| Total sugars | 12g (6g added) |
| Fat | 18g (10g saturated) |
| Cholesterol | 180mg (60% DV) |
| Also contains | Creatine monohydrate, MCTs, prickly pear, bitter melon, Cinnulin PF, VitaFiber prebiotic, protease and bromelain |
| Certification | Informed Choice |
| Artificial colours | None |
| ⚠ Allergens | Milk, coconut, wheat, soy. Made on shared equipment with egg, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish and shellfish |
⚠ Two things to note. The 180mg cholesterol at 60% of daily value is high — worth knowing if you monitor it. And the allergen list is broad, including wheat, which is unusual in a protein product and matters for anyone coeliac.
The enzymes are a sensible inclusion. Protease and bromelain assist protein breakdown, which is genuinely useful when you are drinking 64g in one sitting.
QuickMass or Clean Gainer?
| QuickMass | R1 Clean Gainer | |
| Calories | 1,010 (4 scoops) | 560 (2 scoops) |
| Protein | 64g | 30g |
| Carbs | 171g | 99g |
| Sugar | 12g | 9g |
| Carb sources | Multi-source with cyclic dextrin | Maltodextrin-led |
| Certification | Informed Choice | Tested facility |
Both are 3:1 and both are genuinely low in sugar. QuickMass is the bigger, more sophisticated formula with certification and a better carbohydrate blend. Clean Gainer is simpler and lighter, and 560 calories is easier to fit into a day.
Our practical advice: if you need a large surplus and struggle to eat, QuickMass — taken at two scoops most of the time. If you need a moderate top-up, Clean Gainer is less product to get through.
How to take it
- Start with two scoops in 8 to 12oz of cold water. ALLMAX note it mixes in water without needing milk.
- Scale up only if you are genuinely not gaining.
- After training or between meals, alongside your normal food rather than instead of it.
- Note the creatine. There is creatine monohydrate in the formula, so check your total if you also take a standalone — and remember creatine needs taking daily, including days you skip the gainer.
- Blend with fruit and nut butter if you want to push calories higher without more powder.
Who this is for
- Genuine hard gainers who struggle to eat enough — the real use case
- Athletes with very high energy demands
- Anyone who wants dosing flexibility from 250 to 1,010 calories in one tub
- Tested athletes, given Informed Choice certification with retail-purchased testing
- People who found other gainers sat too heavily — the cyclic dextrin genuinely helps
Who this is not for
Anyone coeliac. It contains wheat.
Anyone with a coconut or soy allergy, or reacting to the shared-equipment allergens.
If you monitor cholesterol, 180mg at 60% DV is high.
If your appetite is fine, eat more food. A gainer solves an appetite problem, not a discipline problem — and 1,010 calories from oats, milk, peanut butter and fruit costs less and brings more nutrition.
If you are diabetic or insulin resistant, 171g of carbohydrate in one sitting warrants a doctor's conversation.
If you want a moderate calorie addition, Clean Gainer at 560 is easier to fit in.
Stack it with: nothing that duplicates it — check the creatine total, and note the formula already includes enzymes.
Frequently asked questions
How many calories per serving?
1,010 in a four-scoop serving, or roughly 250 per scoop. You do not have to take four.
Should I take the full four scoops?
Most people should start at two. A 1,010-calorie shake is hard to drink and easy to overshoot with — build a surplus you can sustain.
What is Cyclo-D?
Highly branched cyclic dextrin. Its branched structure gives it very low osmolality, so it leaves the stomach quickly without the heaviness of a large carbohydrate load — which is what makes a serving this size drinkable.
How much sugar?
12g total across 171g of carbohydrate, which is genuinely low for a gainer.
Is it tested for banned substances?
Yes, Informed Choice — and tubs are purchased randomly from retailers rather than submitted by the manufacturer, which is a stronger form of testing.
Does it contain creatine?
Yes, creatine monohydrate is in the formula. Check your total if you take a standalone, and remember creatine needs to be taken daily.
What allergens does it contain?
Milk, coconut, wheat and soy, and it is made on equipment that also handles egg, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish and shellfish. The wheat is unusual in a protein product and matters for coeliacs.
Do I need to mix it with milk?
No. ALLMAX formulate it to mix in cold water alone.
Good tasting. Easy to go down.
