Description
Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Yohimbine HCl
Standalone yohimbine hydrochloride — a potent, dose-sensitive ingredient that requires more care than almost anything else on our shelves.
⚠ Read the cautions before the benefits. This is not a product to take casually, and a meaningful number of people should not take it at all.
⚠ Who should not take this
We would rather lose the sale than have this go badly.
- Anyone with anxiety or panic disorder. Yohimbine works by blocking alpha-2 receptors, which increases noradrenaline — and it has been used in research specifically to induce anxiety and panic responses. This is not a mild caution
- Anyone with high blood pressure or a heart condition. It raises both heart rate and blood pressure
- Anyone on antidepressants — particularly MAOIs, but also SSRIs and tricyclics. Speak to your doctor
- Anyone on blood pressure medication
- Anyone with kidney or liver disease
- Anyone stimulant-sensitive, or who has reacted badly to strong pre-workouts
If any of those apply, choose a different approach. Our staff earn no commission, and this is exactly the conversation we would have at the counter.
How it actually works — and why fasted is non-negotiable
The mechanism explains the dosing rules, so it is worth understanding.
Fat cells have both alpha and beta adrenergic receptors. Beta receptors, when activated, release stored fat. Alpha-2 receptors act as a brake — they inhibit that release.
Stubborn fat areas have a higher density of alpha-2 receptors, which is a genuine physiological explanation for why some areas resist while others come off easily.
Yohimbine blocks alpha-2 receptors, releasing the brake and allowing more fat mobilisation from those areas.
⚠ And here is why food ruins it: insulin blunts the effect entirely. Even a small amount of food raising insulin substantially reduces what yohimbine does. Taking it with a meal largely wastes it — that is mechanism, not a suggestion.
- Take it fasted, first thing or several hours after eating
- Ideally before fasted cardio, where the mobilised fat is actually used
- Wait at least an hour before eating afterwards
⚠ Dose by bodyweight, and start well below it
Research protocols commonly use around 0.2mg per kilogram of bodyweight. For an 80kg person that is roughly 16mg — but that figure is a ceiling to work toward, not a starting point.
Start at a quarter to half of that and increase only if you tolerate it well. Individual sensitivity varies enormously, far more than with caffeine, and the gap between an effective dose and an unpleasant one can be small.
Common effects even at reasonable doses: elevated heart rate, anxiety, sweating, nausea, and a feeling of being wired without energy. If you get those, the dose is too high for you.
⚠ Count your stimulants
Yohimbine appears in a great many fat burners and high-stimulant pre-workouts, frequently as rauwolscine (alpha-yohimbine), which is closely related.
Taking a standalone yohimbine alongside either of those is stacking the same mechanism, and that is where problems occur. Check every label before adding this.
The advantage of a standalone product is precise control — you can dose it exactly rather than accepting whatever is buried in a blend. That control is the reason to buy it, and it is wasted if you double up.
The honest limit of what it does
Yohimbine mobilises fat. It does not burn it.
Releasing fatty acids into the bloodstream achieves nothing unless they are then oxidised — which is why it is paired with fasted cardio. If the fat is not used, it is simply re-esterified and stored again.
And it does not create a caloric deficit. A sustained deficit is what produces fat loss. Yohimbine is a targeting tool for the final stages, not a fat loss strategy.
Which makes this a late-stage product — genuinely useful for someone already lean who is fighting stubborn areas, and largely pointless for someone with a stone to lose.

How to take it
- Start at a quarter of the researched dose to assess tolerance.
- Fasted only, first thing or several hours after eating.
- Before fasted cardio, so the mobilised fat is used.
- Wait an hour before eating.
- Not within six hours of bed.
- ⚠ Never alongside another yohimbine-containing product.
- Cycle it — a few weeks then a break.
Who this is for
- Already-lean people fighting stubborn areas in the final stages of a cut
- Competitors in the last weeks of a prep
- People doing fasted morning cardio
- Anyone who wants precise dose control rather than an unknown amount in a blend
Who this is not for
⚠ Anyone with anxiety, high blood pressure or a heart condition. The most important line here.
Anyone on antidepressants or blood pressure medication, without their doctor.
Anyone not already lean and in a deficit. This targets stubborn fat at the end; it does not do the work in the middle.
Anyone taking a fat burner or pre-workout containing yohimbine or rauwolscine.
Anyone who will take it with food — that wastes it.
Anyone new to stimulants.
Tested athletes should check with their federation.
Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing.
Stack it with: fasted cardio, which is what makes the mechanism useful. Not with other stimulants.
Frequently asked questions
Why must I take it fasted?
Insulin blunts the effect entirely. Even a small amount of food substantially reduces what yohimbine does, so taking it with a meal largely wastes it.
How does it target stubborn fat?
Alpha-2 receptors act as a brake on fat release, and stubborn areas have a higher density of them. Yohimbine blocks those receptors, releasing the brake.
How much should I take?
Research protocols use around 0.2mg per kg of bodyweight, but that is a ceiling. Start at a quarter of it — individual sensitivity varies enormously.
Why does it make me anxious?
It increases noradrenaline by blocking alpha-2 receptors, and it has been used in research specifically to induce anxiety responses. If you have anxiety, avoid it.
Can I take it with my fat burner?
Check the label first. Many fat burners and pre-workouts already contain yohimbine or rauwolscine, and stacking the same mechanism is where problems occur.
Does it burn fat?
It mobilises fat. If the released fatty acids are not then oxidised through activity, they are simply stored again — which is why it is paired with fasted cardio.
Will it work if I am not in a deficit?
No. A sustained caloric deficit produces fat loss; this is a targeting tool for the final stages.
Should I cycle it?
Yes — a few weeks then a break.
