Description
Rule One Burn
Burn is a thermogenic built on 200mg of caffeine from five different sources, plus Capsimax and grains of paradise. It comes in powder and capsules, and your note is right that it covers the ground an all-in-one should.
200mg is roughly two cups of strong coffee. Plan the rest of your day around it.
Why five caffeine sources instead of one
This is the most interesting design decision in the product and the reason it feels different from a straight caffeine pill.
The 200mg comes from caffeine anhydrous, green coffee bean extract, tea leaf extract, guarana seed extract, and a micro-encapsulated delayed-release form.
Each of those releases on a different curve. Anhydrous caffeine hits fastest. Guarana releases more gradually, because the caffeine is bound within the seed's natural matrix. The micro-encapsulated form is coated to dissolve later, deliberately delaying part of the dose.
The result is a flatter curve rather than a spike. A single fast-acting source produces a sharp peak and a corresponding drop — which is exactly what people mean by the crash. Staggering the release across five sources softens both ends.
That is a genuine formulation advantage and it is the main reason to choose this over cheaper caffeine.
Powder or capsules? They are different formulas
| Powder | Capsules | |
| Multi-source caffeine | 200mg | 200mg |
| L-Carnitine Tartrate | 1.5g | — |
| L-Tyrosine | 1g | — |
| Taurine | 1g | — |
| Forskohlii extract | — | 250mg |
| L-Theanine | — | 100mg |
| Capsimax | 25mg | 50mg |
| Grains of Paradise | 20mg | 40mg |
| Green tea & coffee extract | 370mg | 350mg |
The powder is the amino-loaded version — 1.5g carnitine, 1g tyrosine, 1g taurine. Those doses are only possible in a powder, since you would need a handful of capsules to fit them.
The capsules are the thermogenic-loaded version — double the Capsimax and grains of paradise, plus 250mg forskohlii and 100mg theanine.
The theanine is the deciding factor for a lot of people. L-theanine taken alongside caffeine reduces the jittery, wired edge while preserving the alertness — the same pairing explained on our RYSE Fuel page. If caffeine makes you feel scattered, the capsules are the better choice.
If you want the carnitine and amino support and do not mind mixing a drink, take the powder. If you want the strongest thermogenic dose and a smoother feel, take the capsules.
The thermogenic ingredients
- Capsimax — coated cayenne extract. The coating allows an effective capsaicinoid dose without the burning sensation raw capsaicin causes, and capsaicinoids activate brown adipose tissue, which burns energy as heat rather than storing it
- Grains of Paradise — 6-paradol works on the same brown fat pathway through a different route. This ingredient appears across several of our fat burners; the full explanation is on the Alpha Lion Burn page
- Forskohlii (capsules) — studied in relation to fat metabolism
- L-Carnitine Tartrate (powder) — transports long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria to be burned. Required for the process, though usually not the limiting factor in people who eat meat
- BioPerine — black pepper extract, to improve absorption of the rest
Honest note: the brown fat research is promising rather than settled, and the measured effects on energy expenditure in published work are modest. These ingredients contribute at the margins.
How to take it
- Powder: one scoop in 8 to 12 ounces of cold water. Capsules: two capsules with water. Before training or with an early meal, ideally on an empty stomach.
- Morning or early afternoon only. 200mg at 3pm still leaves around 100mg at 9pm, and the delayed-release fraction extends that further.
- Never more than two servings daily, and do not combine with other caffeine sources or alcohol.
- Count your coffee. 200mg is half the 400mg daily figure cited for healthy adults before anything else.
- Discontinue two weeks before surgery. That is on Rule One's own label and worth repeating.
- Cycle it. Stimulant tolerance builds. Four to eight weeks then time off.
- Only while in a deficit.
Who this is for
- People already in a caloric deficit who want appetite blunting and energy
- Anyone who dislikes the crash from single-source caffeine — the five-source blend genuinely addresses that
- People who want one product covering energy, focus and thermogenics rather than three
- Anyone using it as a pre-workout replacement, which it works well as
Who this is not for
Not alongside a pre-workout without adding the caffeine up first. This effectively replaces it.
Not for anyone caffeine sensitive, training in the evening, or with cardiovascular concerns.
Not for tested athletes without checking the current certification status of the specific version you buy.
Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing.
And the honest one: no fat burner creates a caloric deficit. What 200mg of caffeine reliably does is blunt appetite and make dieting feel easier, which is genuinely useful. The thermogenic ingredients contribute at the margins. If the diet is not in order, fix that first — we will help you for free and it will do more than this will.
Stack it with: nothing containing caffeine. A protein that keeps you full does more for a deficit than a second fat burner.
Frequently asked questions
How much caffeine is in Rule One Burn?
200mg per serving, roughly two cups of strong coffee, from five sources: anhydrous, green coffee bean, tea leaf, guarana seed and a micro-encapsulated delayed-release form.
Why does it use multiple caffeine sources?
Each releases on a different curve, which flattens the overall response rather than producing a sharp spike and drop. That is what reduces the crash.
Are the powder and capsules the same?
No. The powder adds 1.5g L-carnitine, 1g tyrosine and 1g taurine. The capsules add 250mg forskohlii and 100mg theanine, with double the Capsimax and grains of paradise.
Which should I buy?
Capsules if you want the stronger thermogenic dose and a smoother feel from the theanine. Powder if you want the amino acids and do not mind mixing a drink.
What does theanine do?
Taken with caffeine it reduces the jittery edge while preserving alertness. It is only in the capsules.
Can I use it as a pre-workout?
Yes, and many people do. At 200mg it replaces one rather than stacking with it.
Should I cycle it?
Yes. Stimulant tolerance builds, so four to eight weeks on and then time off.
Will it burn fat on its own?
No. It supports a caloric deficit, and the caffeine blunts appetite, which makes dieting easier. The deficit produces the result.
