Description
NutraBio CGT-MAX
Three of the most-researched supplements in one unflavoured scoop: 5g creatine, 3.5g L-glutamine and 2g taurine. 40 servings, fully disclosed label.
Is a combination product worth it? The honest maths
You can buy all three of these separately from us, so the fair question is whether combining them is worth anything.
The case for CGT-MAX:
- One scoop instead of three. Compliance is the single biggest predictor of whether creatine works, and three separate tubs means three chances to forget
- Every dose is at a sensible level. This is not a blend hiding trace amounts — 5g creatine is the standard dose, 3.5g glutamine and 2g taurine are both real
- Two creatine forms, which is genuinely unusual (below)
The case against: if you only want creatine, buy creatine — it will cost you less. Glutamine's strongest evidence is gut and immune support rather than muscle building, and taurine at 2g is easy to get from a pre-workout.
Our view: this suits someone who wants a simple daily stack and will actually take it, and it is priced sensibly against buying three tubs. It does not suit someone who wants only one of the three.
Two creatine forms, and what that actually buys you
The 5g comes from PharmaPure creatine monohydrate and Creatine MagnaPower magnesium chelate.
PharmaPure is NutraBio's tested monohydrate — the form with by far the most research behind it, and the benchmark everything else is measured against.
Creatine MagnaPower is creatine bonded to magnesium. The rationale is that magnesium is required by the enzyme that converts creatine to phosphocreatine, so binding the two delivers both together.
The honest position: monohydrate remains the most proven form, and no alternative has convincingly beaten it in head-to-head research. Magnesium chelate is a reasonable, well-made option rather than an upgrade. You are not getting more than monohydrate would give you — but you are not getting less either, and the magnesium is a small bonus given how many people run low on it.
Kyowa Quality glutamine — and why the sourcing matters
The 3.5g of L-glutamine is Kyowa Quality, a trademarked fermented material.
Worth knowing why that is specified: amino acids can be produced by hydrolysing keratin, which comes from animal hair and feathers. It is not unsafe and the finished molecule is identical — but most people would rather know, and vegetarians and vegans certainly would. Kyowa material is produced by fermentation from plant sources.
And an honest note on what glutamine does: the best-supported uses are gut lining support and immune function under heavy training loads, not muscle growth. Full explanation on our L-Glutamine page. In this product it is a sensible recovery inclusion rather than the reason to buy.
Taurine at 2g — the underrated one
Taurine is not a stimulant, despite the energy drink association. It is an inhibitory amino acid that draws water into muscle cells and modulates calcium release, which is what actually triggers muscle contraction.
At 2g it is a genuine dose, and it pairs logically with creatine — both are cell volumisers working by different routes, and both are found mainly in meat and fish, so plant-based eaters start from a lower baseline on both.

The published lab results are a real differentiator. NutraBio put third-party test results for their products online rather than simply asserting purity. Very few brands do that, and on a creatine product it is exactly the kind of verification that matters.
Note: some listings quote 4g of glutamine rather than 3.5g. Check your tub — NutraBio's own current figure is 3.5g.
How to take it
- One to two servings daily in 16oz of any beverage.
- Every day, including rest days. Creatine works by saturating muscle stores, so consistency matters far more than timing.
- No loading phase needed. 5g daily reaches the same saturation within three to four weeks, without the stomach upset loading can cause.
- Drink enough water. All three ingredients draw water into muscle cells.
- Do not double up on creatine — check your pre-workout, as several contain it.
Who this is for
- Anyone who wants a simple daily foundation stack in one scoop
- People who have struggled to stay consistent with separate tubs
- Athletes in heavy training blocks, where the glutamine has its strongest case
- Plant-based eaters, who are lower in both creatine and taurine to begin with
- Anyone who wants published third-party lab results rather than a purity claim
Who this is not for
If you only want creatine, buy creatine. It costs less and does the same job.
If you already take creatine, do not add this on top without checking your total.
If you are buying it for muscle-building glutamine, the evidence does not support that use.
One thing worth knowing about bloodwork: creatine can raise serum creatinine, a marker used to estimate kidney function. That is a supplementation artefact rather than damage — but tell your doctor you take creatine before any blood panel.
Not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing. Speak to your doctor first if you have a kidney condition.
Stack it with: beta-alanine and citrulline for a complete stimulant-free performance stack.
Frequently asked questions
What is in CGT-MAX?
5g of creatine from two trademarked forms, 3.5g of Kyowa Quality fermented L-glutamine, and 2g of taurine.
Is magnesium chelate creatine better than monohydrate?
No — monohydrate remains the most proven form and nothing has convincingly beaten it. Magnesium chelate is a well-made alternative, not an upgrade.
Should I buy this or separate tubs?
This if you want a simple daily stack you will actually take. Separate tubs if you only want one of the three, or want to control each dose independently.
Do I need to load creatine?
No. 5g daily reaches the same saturation in three to four weeks without the stomach upset loading can cause.
Should I take it on rest days?
Yes. Creatine works by saturation, so every day counts equally.
Does glutamine build muscle?
Not in healthy, well-fed people. Its strongest evidence is gut lining and immune support during heavy training.
Why is there a Prop 65 warning?
A lead warning is disclosed. California's thresholds sit well below federal safety limits and many mineral-containing supplements carry it.
Can I see the lab results?
Yes. NutraBio publish third-party test results at checkmysupps.com, which almost no other brand does.
